Look, I'm not a knifemaker, and I sure don't want to come off as negative, don't you think that the handles are going to generate hot spots?

I'm not a knife maker either, one of those is mine.

Joe from Flat Rock Forge is doing a limited run, from the original plans. They came from Ethan Becker, who owns an original Kephart.

It started with this thread.

Mike Crenshaw aka HSO, provided the plans. He recently passed away, Joe decided to do the run in his honor, and as a thanks for sharing them.

And yes, as they are in the picture, they might cause hot spots. 😀

Lots more whacking, probably the hardest I've been on this blade. Lots of fallen, dried, unsupported chopping. Stuff that's Hard on edges.... Cutting saplings? Yup, I swung directly into the ground, cutting dirt. Only thing I tried to avoid is boulders.

Excellent day....

62HRC......No Problem

Just finished the coarse grinding of a new addition to the “Stubby Chunky (Bladeshape) Monkey” series. So… Stubby Chunky Chisel Monkey. I believe I posted the original Stubby Chunky Tanto Monkey somewhere on the forum back when I first made it as a one-off.
