Can anyone give me a hint on heat treating a knife i just made ? I made if out of a Ferrier Rasp i took off 1/8 of edge on both sides to a razors edge. Im hoping the edge will stay since its a hard steel any ideas on what i should do? I have not quentched it in oil YET

Ferrier rasps are often not knife grade steel. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but you should have posted about your build before the HT.
There is a whole section in The Stickies that deals with file knives and HT of them. Try that info and see if you get lucky with your rasp.
