I was given a newer model Opinel #8 awhile ago, and not long after managed to roll the thin edge pretty bad while whittling. I feel pretty silly for asking this, but what's the best way to fix it?
You are going to have to resharpen the edge 'till the edge is renewed. I'd start with the coarsest stone you have, and then work towards finer and finer stones.
A little patience and work, all will be like new again.
Steel it for a while to try to get it back in shape, then sharpen out the rolled section that is now straight. It's a little easierr to do it this way than to go straight to the stone.

Thanks! Steeling it before sharpening on my coarsest stone did the trick. I finished it up on a diamond hone and stropped it to hair-popping sharp. I'd never have thought to try steeling it, thanks!
While I was at it I popped the collar off and spread it a bit, and thoroughly applied petroleum jelly to moving parts. Smoothed it up considerably.
