Fixing a strong detent?

I have a Kershaw/Emerson cqc7k that I would like to carry as a beater knife/backup to my more higher end stuff, but the detent is crazy strong. It waves out of the pocket fine but just opening it with a thumb is nearly impossible. And it's not the pivot, that's relatively loose as it is. Any suggestions?

You could bend the lock bar out a bit and weaken the detent to your liking. You may have to take the knife apart to do so, I've also heard of guys that were able to bend it out without taking the knife apart. I usually just take the knife apart to adjust the detent on framelocks though. You have to be careful when doing it, try small increments and then see how it feels.

Could something as simple as technique. Make sure that you are not placing your index finger on the lock bar while opening the knife with your thumb. All it takes is a tiny bit of pressure applied to the lock bar to make the knife very hard to open.

I would try and rule out something like this before taking it apart and adjusting it.
