Fixing blade warpage?

I just flat ground a thin neck knife and I guess the steel was too hot and it warped. It's slightly off center.

Should I try bending it in a vice with some wood blocks now? Or after heat treat?

Thanks.

For my .02 cents I would straightin it now heat treat might warp it even more and now it is annealed less chance of breaking it or cracking it. Like I sadi though just my .02 cents.

do it now, i broke my first knife becasue i didnt fix the warp before the HT and tried to bend it after the fact... snaped it clean off :(

Sometimes a blade will bend a little while grinding simply because of the force against the grinder while holding the tang, even though it's not smoking hot.

Straighten now.

Another vote for straightening now.
I'm not sure what would be gained by trying it after HT.

striaghten now or it will just get worse after HT(and thats the voice of experience:D )

you might even need to slightly over warp it back (let some one else confirm this though) becasue it seemed when i tried my first blade i was continuiously bending the blade back from the same direction during fabrication and then it warped back during HT

To do it all the way by the book -
Straighten the blade now.
Normalize the blade two or three times.
Straighten the blade again if needed.
HT as per steel requirements. When quenched, pull out of quenchant after all gurgling stops (10-15 seconds) and check. If warped straighten at once (waste no time!). Put on anvil and whack or put in vise and twist/bend. As long as the steel stays above 300 -400 degrees it will be soft. Once it cools down below 200 it will break like glass.
