Somehow, not sure how, I dmed Cm71236 on Tuesday about this knife, got a email to personal email from Cm71236 or some one purporting to be Cm71236, received PayPal info and sent the 575 PayPal friends and family as requested, now being told never agreed to buy knife via bladeforums dms, but via email being told sorry there was a mixup tracking information. I don’t know how I don’t know who but it seems I got scammed.

Dude I never emailed you. I spoke to a mod and he said this had been happening lately to people. How would I know how to email you if you never gave it to me in our dms??? You got scammed but not by me that I can prove.
 
Like I said I don’t know how I don’t know who, like you said maybe my loss of 575 can bring attention to it, in any case sounds like moderator is involved now.
 
Gentlemen, this is an ongoing scam here. If you respond to emails there is a good chance you will be taken. Scammers are finding posts where your email addresses have been posted publicly and then contacting you while pretending to be the legitimate seller.

If you haven't shared your email with the seller, there is no reason why they would reach out to you by email. CORRESPOND ONLY VIA DM. There is no reason to correspond by email if you have access to DMs, which you both have.

B bs1229 , contact PayPal, your bank, and / or credit card company and try to get your funds back from the fraudulent party.

Sounds good thanks for clearing this up,

Cm71236 thanks for handling this like a gentleman via dms.

Lessons learned on my end. Heads on swivel gents, lost my focus for min and did something dumb. Hopefully you all learn from my dumb mistake, I know I will, once again the mistake was mine and I appreciate Cm71236 for handling the situation well and helping me clear it up.
