FK2 Prototype

I don’t think I’ve ever seen any blue denim CPK scales. If you don’t mind posting a pic, I’d love to see them.

Here are some old pictures. They look almost black in a couple of these, but they are really more blue in person. The last picture is a little closer to true color.

Thanks guys, sorry for posting in the wrong group...Give me details on how to purchase one of these fine pieces.

No worries. Welcome again. Along with what Casino posted, right now there are no open preorders, so your best bet is to watch (subscribe to) the Buy/Sell/Trade thread we were just in, and also the NEXT SALE thread. Nathan sells on Bladeforums at 3 PM Eastern time on Fridays (not every Friday) but he'll post in the NEXT SALE thread when he has a sale coming up, and there should be something soon.

Thank you...if you remember, let me know when I need to get ready to purchase and the bad thing is I am usually at work at that time so i may need some help.

So since you're interested in the field knives, we may see some of those in Friday sales, and we may or may not see a preorder for them. Nothing concrete yet, so everyone is kind of waiting to see how they go down. Actually I shouldn't say FK, but FK 2.0 like the prototypes in this thread.

Nathan sells first come, first served on those sales and they sell out insanely fast. Like one second fast, literally. But hang around and do a bunch of reading to get yourself up to speed so that you're prepared, or it's going to take you by surprise. On the scales, search some key words like antique, terotuf, or denim posted by Nathan the Machinist and check out old sales threads.

You may want to connect an email to your account and/or get a basic membership ($10/year). Then other members can email you or even send you PM’s alerting you of sales.
There are original FK’s that show up on the exchange at a premium. Make sure to understand the different variations of steel used on the older ones.
Good luck!

Nathan said he was going to change it to make it more like the FK1.

Nathan said that he straightened out the spine, which to me means it’s less of a drop-point (I could be way off). At first I thought this meant that this meant that the FK2 would have more of a point and less of a curved belly like the FK1, but then Nathan said that he was happy with the blade shape. I’m curious as to what that shape now is, and how that compares to the FK1 and the FK2 prototype, but I guess I’ll have to wait to see like everyone else!

Later this year the FK2 will be released.

I thought that Jo said the release of the FK2 was “imminent”?

Also, are the steel, heat treat, and hardness the same as the original?

I'm curious as well. Seems like the profile of the cutting edge will stay like the protos but the spine itself is going to be straighter than the protos. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there's still a slight chance it will stay a drop point.
