So ive got this ZT801 that is begging for some color. Its a great knife and I like it a lot but its plain looking. I want to flame color it!

My question is that after I flame color it being that everything i touch with fire will be colored how do I make the high points on the scale go back to the normal titanium color ?

Example:

if you can see how the high points in the scales are raw titanium color. Would i use a fine grit wet dry sand paper or would a buffing tool on a dremel work as well?
