This is the good stuff, guys! Cut from the crotch in Missouri. Kiln dried and ready to use.

2"x5"x1" +/- (most over an 1" thick).

Two groups of 4 blocks #27 & #28 (All Sold Thanks!)

Hi Mark,

The backs are at 50 grit with no finish on them. If I get a chance, I'll do it Saturday, as I'll be out of town tomorrow.
BTW, the figure is about the same as the finished side.

I am assuming (always dangerous) that these do not require stabilization. Is that correct?

Also, I understand that the backs are not finished. But can you tell me what grit has been used on the sides you photographed, and what if any finish has been applied to that side?

Black Walnut can be stabilized, but I use it as is with an oil finish, like a fine gun stock. I usually use tung oil.

The face shown has been sand to 220 grit and I wiped on a thin coat of MinWax wood hardener, rubbed with 0000 steel wool and applied wax. The wood hardener is also a good finish, that is much quicker than an oil finish.
