Flash 2 Arc Lock question

Why did Sog retain the older version's bolt action style lock and add the Arc Locks lock release mechanism? Wouldn't it have been easier and simpler to manufacture to have just stayed with the straight pull lock release setup?

The straight pull blade release tended to be a bit of a pain to use. Frequently stiff and stubborn to release.

Don't know that the Flashs "needed" the arc, but they were using it on most of the other knives and it seems logical to change the Flashs to the same thing.
It does improve the Flash2.
