Flash II and warranty service

Hi folks,

Bought a new Flash II a month ago and found that the blade had side to side play and a loose pivot screw. Sent it back to SOG to be fixed and it has been sitting in their repair shop for two weeks! I keep calling Mike in warranty service and he keeps giving me the brush off! Where is this great customer service and where is my "new" knife?

Mike is giving you the brush off? That sounds unlike him...

I don't know what's happening in this case, but SOG's customer service has always been exemplary!?

just curious...,
why nit adjust it the way you like it?
every knife i have, i adjusted to my liking. it only takes bout 10 seconds to cure side play and/or a loose pivot screw.
SOG had the BEST customer service i have ever had. i can't imagine anyone getting a brush off...

BTW, playing with my Flash I, there IS some side to side play, although very little. I can tighten it up, but then it won't open as fast as it should. There is some trade-off in all the Flash models I have seen.

i must have been lucky:) i have the flash I and II and neither have side play. they open fast ( the smaller version opens faster than the larger, about as fast as my microtech auto's ) and there is no play. i did get some of the first off the production line..., if that made any difference.
i like the vision series better, too bad the NV was discontinued.
hopefully there will be a "replacement"
BTW, how is Ron?

My Flash 1 is about as fast as my UDT, though there is a LITTLE bit of play.

The Vision series is a cool knife, very distinctive blade!

Ron is feeling better now that the Kidney stone passed!!! :barf:  :grumpy:

Yea the Vision series is my favorite SOG folder, the Vision with Ti handles I had worked on by SOG after a mishap with a industrial wood chipper (long story) anyway SOG fixed her good as new maybe even better, I recommend the knife to anyone.

Do the aluminum handle Flash II's have less blade play? The Flash I's and II's with Zytel handles (that I have seen) have had far too much blade play.

May I suggest this is a production variability that SOG should look into? I have a Flash II in Zytel handel. Some side to side play but nowhere close to a wobble. The locking strength makes me wonder though. My F2's lock feels weaker than PE's liner lock. I can force the blade to give a little (tiny fraction of an inch) in the fully open and locked position.

Anyone else have this problem?
