Flash II lock question.

I have a older Flash II knife, the lock looks different on the new version.
I was wondering if the lock on the older version is not as secure.
Just curious as to why they made the change.
Thanks for any information you can give.
 
The lock is basically the same. The new lock just changes the leverage point on the release and makes it easier to release lock.
