Flashlight Specials

Clay,
I have a couple of friends that are full time professional stage hands, and a couple more that have done it temporarily. AA Mini Maglites seems to be the most common by far. Now that the two career ones have gone union, they may be able to afford SureFires et al, but they stick with the Mag products. They don't want to blind people, they just want to see what they are doing.

If you like the Q40 you just have to buy it from a dive shop now. I called Underwater Kinetics a month or so ago, and they told me that they just market the 4AA (with vent) to firefighters and other hazardous environment workers, and sell the Q40 through dive shops. Apparently the ones with the vents aren't really considered water "proof", at least not nearly as water "resistant" as the older style. The lamps on the 4AA, 2L, and Q40 should all be interchangeable.

Since I don't see a real need for a flashlight with a gas vent, a Q40 is very high on my Toys Wanted list. A 2L is also right up there. I think a UK 2L is my ideal glove box light.

Them:"What's that clipped to your pocket, a beeper?"
Me:"Uuh....yeah, something like that."
