Flashlight suggestion?

Just remember most cheaper LED lights are not using regulated circuits, these allow you to get more voltage and longer consistancy of output over the life of the batteries.

That's why there aare some lights that cost hundreds, and some that cost a few dollars.

Ya get what ya pay for.

Just remember... If you run into your hot neighbor while dog walking and you have a big light strapped on your head... you will look like a total dork!

There is another option...

Hey, at least YOU won't look like a dork. :D

I absolutely love my Surefire Aviator A2. Yeah, it's about as expensive as you can get for a flashlight and it uses lithium batteries. But it's also dual-mode so you can use it as either an LED or an incadescent. It's also indestructable.

I use mine in LED mode most of the time, which gives me adequate light for most needs plus a phenominal run time. But if I really need to light things up, I can always jump up to the incadescent mode. (Even at the brighter setting, the batteries will last for an hour.)

Pretty much I carry that flashlight about as obsessively as I carry my Sebbie. Never leave home without a good flashlight ....

I'll cast my vote for the Fenix L2T. Great flashlight, especially for the price. The L1T is a good compromise if you want something you can carry in a pocket.

LEDs are not necessarily dimmer than incandescent. In fact, the Luxeons (I,III,V,K2) put a lot more lumens in your pocket than those whimpy (and delicate) krypton bulbs any day of the week. HIDs (xenon) are the brightest, but won't give you the battery life of an LED. Whatever type you choose, I highly recommend NiMH batteries, however. You save money, generate less waste, and get better performance from your flashlight. Alkalines start at 1.5v and then steadily drop to nil as they discharge. NiMHs stay at 1.2v until they're almost dead. This is particularly advantageous with incandescents or unregulated LEDs.

Does Fenix sell after market kits for red lens? I tried looking for some online but couldn't find any.

Pentagon L2, L.E.D. runtime of 90 minutes plus 5 hours usable, can be run over by a tank, and cost about half what a surefire does. oh, and they have lens covers in red blue and green.

Thanks, I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy two though - maybe I could cut up some red plastic and strap it over one. Maybe my mini-mag's red lens kit may fit over it.

You can pick up a Fenix L2P together with an L1P body for $42 dollars at Fenix-store.com. Limited stock so hurry....Good luck

Many thanks! Now I know how to not look like a dork )))
And there was something about flashlites… oh, yes
Fenix L2p or Pentagon L2
When I back from my vacations I'll pick one or another.

I've ordered L2p +L1p head combo and thhey arrived at Saturday. Cool, and now I have an option - short or full-sized light.
Thanx Zpaulg!
