Flashlights/Headlamps?

Anyone have thoughts on the Fenix?

The Fenix TK40 (700 lumens) is in my travel Pelican case. Along with the Sig 229, extra mags, barrels for .40S&W - Barsto 9mm, extra ammo and laser maintenance kit :D Used with the Surefire X-200 rail-light at night.

That Fenix really LIGHTS UP a room

Fenix are good I have Seven of them. My EDC is a Nightcore D10. Stupid name nice light.

There are a lot of great new highpower LED offernings but IMHO, Fenix lights are THE bargain. You get a whole lot of power for the money and neither I or my brother have found anything wrong with them, reliable and extremely durable. Plus there's a whole lot of accessories to choose from. I have a PD30 and a headband that allows you to turn a regular light into a headlamp, and it work marvelously. Fenix also has a couple exellent headlamp offerings.

Headlamp - I use a Petzl Tikka XP & a Petzl e+lite for backup. I'm still shopping for a flashlight to replace my 2XAA Maglite led.

I carry a Fenix PD30 everywhere I go. I have a Shurfire 6P LED on the nightstand.

I have a Petzl Tac Tikka plus that's my go-to light for most situations. The red filter is really nice for getting a fish off the line or picking through brush going to the tree stand when you dont want to ruin your night vision.

My bigger headlamp is a Princeton Tec Apex. I cant say enough good about it. I've worn it underground a few times and its performed well. It's been fully submerged several times, been blasted full of sand and grit, and generally just had the balls beat off of it. It's a tough, handy light, especially at work when a full size mining light is too heavy or bulky.

Other than my headlamps I keep a few Mag lights around in all sizes. 4D in the truck and a AAA Solitare on my key chain. The performance isnt great, but they're cheap and reasonably tough. It's hard for me to justify spending surfire money on flashlights at this stage of my life.

I just picked up a Kobalt led flashlight from lowes. So far it seems like it will be a great little light. It was about half the price of some of the surefire lights they had.

I've had a few Surefire lights and frankly, wasn't thrilled with the longevity of them, either in batteries or bulbs so they're all gone. I haven't tried the LED versions, my trials with the incan stuff turned me of enough to switch brands.

I have a couple Fenix lights, TK-10 and a smaller, 1 cell cr123. Both have already served me pretty well and I'll continue to give them my business.

SureFire Incandecent lights were pretty dismal as far as battery time or lamp life went. The new LED SureFires are very efficient. Just as much so as the Fenix but probably more rugged than the Fenix. Of course the SureFire are more expensive. I have both brands and do like them both. Jetbeam is another up and coming Flashlight company that makes nice lights but I've been less than thrilled with their customer service so far. Since LED's have come out there seems to be an explosion of new companies.

Howdy,

For tactical, I use a Surfire E2, (2)-CR123 batteries

For a headlamp, I use a Streamlight Septor, (2)-AAA batteries

For general use, a Streamlight Stylus Pro, (2)-AAA batteries

My favorite out of the three is the Stylus Pro. It puts out alot of light for a single LED, AAA battery flashlight, is lightweight, and small. I carry it like a pen in a shirt front pocket. The use of standard AAA batteries is great for cost and ease of buying replacements.

Only saw 1 other person mention them, but for headlamps you really can't do much better than Zebralight. All their models are awesome. I have owned them all at one time or another and currently own the H30 and H60 models.

If you want to see what people who really know their lights think of them, post one for sale over in the candlepower forums marketplace. Every one I have seen there has sold in about 10 min or so.

If im on the boat or near water ill take my Princeton Tec 40. Pretty dang bright, and super water proof.

My surefire G2L goes pretty much everywhere with me. When im at home its on the shotgun, if i travel its in the backpack.
I also keep a brinkmann maxfirel lx in the truck just in case.
