Flashlights..... I've got the bug now.

I have the Streamlight Stinger, small version. Works great. Very rugged. Not the smallest of flashlights but they make smaller models. I've had a lot good luck with my Streamlight. The only problem was when I had to replace the batteries. Only a couple of places sell them and they weren't cheap. $40.00. The light and chargers were about $150.00. The original batteries did last me a few years though and I used it daily back when I was working on cars for a living. So not too bad I guess.

Stay Strong & No Regrets!

yep,,,

the Streamlight "Stinger". and the Streamlight "Ultra Stinger", are both excellent lights,,, I have one of each,, the standard stinger is rated 15,000 candle power and the Ultra Stinger is rated at 75,000 candle power,, I have had to replace both battery sticks in each, had the lights for about two years now.

The Ultra Stinger is defInitly dominate between the two,,,it is incredible how much light this sucker will put out for it's size.

but, 'Academy sports and outdoors' here in Alabama has the battery sticks for under $30.00 each, the good thing about the StreamLights is that you always leave the in the charger and they are always fully charged when you need them.,,,

Ive got Surefire's Z2 and M2 Centurioun. I recently ordered LED conversion heads for both of them.

I also ordered a Streamlight 4AA propolymer LED. This thing runs on alkaline AA's, has a 7 LED head, 27 lumens, and runs up to 155 hrs. Not bad for $24.95

By the way, the best prices and service I have found by far has been from a place brightflashlights. You can email him for price and availability brightflashlights@usa.com As far as customer service, this guy is right up there with the Busse company store :)

maybe you guys could answer a couple of questions for me about surefire lights.

is the pocket clips good for pocket or belt carry? i heard one guy say they are mounted upside down and are pretty useless as pocket clips

also has anyone tried the e2e outdoorsman led?

What the hell is that!?!?!?!?!?!

Surefire L4 for my EDC light, it goes everywhere with me. I have it in a nice Lifters Leather sheath which helps for the carry.

My other one is the L2, which I consider a full LED version of the A2. It is a very nice two stage light.

Does anyone know how Lumarays compare to Surefires? The Lumaray lights have some cool features but from everything I have heard, nothing beats a surefire (as long as you don't mind all the batteries.) :D

Peter I can't speak for the Lumarays, but I have been carrying a surefire since 1990 when there was only a couple of models, and it still works today. All of our SRT pistols and rifles have them and they take a beating and keep working. Also, surefire fixes things fast when something goes down. My experience with them has just been Top Notch.

Update. My new flashlight just came in the mail and right now it's lighting up the whole room. I can't tell you if it's worth the money, but it's by far the brightest flashlight I've ever owned (I don't anything really high powered though).
If you've never had a really good flashlight, drop some cash and get yourself one, at least get a princeton or an inova, you won't regret it, and actually save money on batteries.
Here's the model that I have:

the Maglite RECHARGEABLE. Not the regular ones which are just ok. They burn down quickly. The rechargeable has 175 lumens for about 2 hours, then just recharge. No surefire can do this 175 lumens for 2 hours.

You're not having to buy into the Surefire hype and their battery addiction. They make mooola on batts. Don't get suckered into Surefire marketing. I once did. Not saying they're stuff is crap or anything. Just very purpose specific. I own 2 of them. One weapon mounted and a handheld.

The mag rechargeable is super reliable and puts out great light. Pays for itself because of the lack of batt change out need and only $80 bucks. No Surefire out there for that price that puts out the same lumens. I did a LOT of research on this. For a home based light, this is the one to get.

Thanks for the heads up ERdept. Right now, I'm going to stick with LEDs, the one I just received lights up the WHOLE ROOM!
