This here is my first WIP thread.
This project is a pair of wet formed double stitched, double leather knives, sheaths. I hope you all enjoy, and questions and comments are encouraged.
I’ll try to go step by step as best as I can. This is a simpler project, but attention to detail is still, and always, the goal.
First and foremost, a well laid out pattern is important.
After the pattern has been made, I trace it out and cut the front to exact size, and the backside a little oversized. (With one edge exact for matching during glue-up)
I cut my stitch grooves using a couple different groovers depending on the look I want in the finished project. I do not groove the backside at this point.
I also do my frontside Maker’s Mark stamp, dampening the leather first.
After the leather has dried, I go ahead and mark out where I would like my stitch holes. On this particular project, I have chosen two different widths for the inside and outside stitch lines.
This is as far as I am so far today, as I needed to take some time to cut the grass. Haha.
Will continue tomorrow.
