Nobody's said too much about it there. I don't know about y'all, but I'd _love_ to see this happen. It'd become my "tech EDC" in a heartbeat.

Another thought: given the thinness of a full-flat-ground Delica blade, this might be a great candidate for the D2 treatment Sal's been asking about.

YES, YES, YESSSSSSSSS! Please Sal, if you can see your way clear to do this, a G-10 Delica with the new style blade (and flat ground would be even better). I'd sure buy one in a hurry!

Jeff/1911.

I wanted this in the other thread too!!! Lets do it Sal. I'm pretty sure the forum members would jump on this one with the Calypso Jr. gone.

BTW - where do I sign up for one ? :D

I love full flat grind , and have one Calyp. Jr. but use my delica, drag.fly, and ProgripLW instead so I can keep my Calypso Jr. for nice occasions. I would love the FRn Plain Edge Calyp. Jrs. to come back in order to get a beater or two. But, a full flat Delica would be PHat and would have to get one (FRN, PE, 4way clip(deep ride in pocket), wire clip for strength and tight tension, slight 3D handle) Yaaaaaa -Aaren

The first Delica(s) were hollow ground, the current ones are flat ground. Oh, you mean full flat ground! My SE Delica IS full flat ground :D It performs well, BTW ;)

Do you think this is going to happen? Seems like we have alot of people here who would buy 'em. How long do you think is going to take to happen? About a year? Or more?

 I would HAVE to have one, probably two. That would be just about the PERFECT knife (just make sure it carries tip-up :D ).

A full flat Delica would be awesome! The very fine tip that would result would likely be very fragile though, especially if it was made hard enough to hold an edge well.

Count me in as well. The Delica has to be about the best size all around knife one could come by. I have come to really appreciate full flat grind knives. The cut great.

I'd buy one or two. Perfect match for a flat grind, g-10 Police or a Military.

Blade thickness:

It is my opinion that a full flat ground blade (edge to spine) of the Delica blade shape would have to begin with a thicker blade in order to get the distal tapers and not have a tip that was too thin. A bit more belly might ad more tip strength. A slightly larger hole would also add more tip strength (increases angle)

The question of liners is always there. It has been our experience (break tests) that liners that are not nested add little strength to the overall package since the pins go long before the liners or the G-10 scales. I believe the use of dual liners for strength is of questionable value. Dual liners that are not nested would add considerable weight and thickness and little "usuable" strength. Dual nested liners would add considerable cost.

If we use G-10, we need a liner (at least one) to fasten screws, unless we use the barrel bolt.

Thoughts?

I think the handle design of the Standard would be sufficient; G-10 handle slabs w/ a single liner. I prefer flat grinds on Spydercos. I hope this project goes forward.

Sal - Everything you said about blade geometry is fine with me, (as if you need my permission  ). Perhaps not too much extra belly, IMHO one of the few advantages the Delica has over the Calypso Jnr is it's very acute tip (very good for working splinters out of my hands), but too much belly may reduce this needle point.

I agree with V-1, a single liner as found on the Standard and CF Delica works very well. I find with the solid steel spacer it has just the right weight to feel "right".
Whilst on the topic of the Standard, I'm not sure if it was just a single batch, but the G-10 on my Standard is noticably smoother than my Military, Harpy, Rookie or Native. If it goes ahead, the rougher the better please.

Prefer a screw clip over a barrel bolt. I was tempted to say a wire clip as I really like the current crop of them, but this model Delica could be so special I wouldn't want to try anything too new with it.
Oh hell, either a screw clip or a really deep carry wire clip as found on the Meerkat :D

Hey Sal,

I think this idea has great potential. IMHO, unlined scales would be best. This seems like a design where "light is right", and the thinner the better. I'd use the barrel bolt and a wire clip. The larger hole is also preferable. Blue G10 would look great. Thanks.

... sweet...

I'd pick up a couple, thats for sure.

G-10, D2 flat grind delica, single nested liner, lockback, ambi wire clip?

**changes pants again and takes a cold shower**

Please?

Ya; I also agree with YOG that the point on the delica should stay pretty pointy. I think a great innovation would be a full flat "hunter/skinner". I am envisioning a full flat 'trakker' or something like that(it has a pretty pointy tip). -Aaren
