I recently purchased a unique Spyderco. It is called a Flat Iron folder. Its handle is zytel and it strongly resembles the old Rescue handle before they got the metal clips. The blade is a large (3.5") spearpoint with a combo edge. The steel is ATS 55. Does anybody out there have one or heard of it?

These were sold as Ironstone Distinctive Bladeware exclusives. Ironstone has changed to Spyderco Factory Outlet and I don't know if they still offer them. Looks to be an excellent utility knife.

Thanks for the information. I hope the knife is stillbeing offeed because it is one of the smoothest lockbacks I have seen in some time. The heavy blade is perfect for flicking. It would really be nice with a reversible clip.

I was just at the Factory Outlet (formerly Ironstone) and they still had the Flat Iron Folder on display for sale.

I bought one from Ironstone last year. It really is a nice Knife. The blade is a good shape for all around use.I think I would prefer it had a plain edge, but it is large enough with enough plain edge that I can still carve a barbeque grill cleaner from a piece of window frame shim stock.

I like the looks, are they available in plainedge? Anyone know what they run?

I asked about 3 months ago and they said it was only available in the combo edge.

Copfish, you should contact Grand Prairie Knives in Troy, Illinois. 618-667-2323. I forgot their web address.
They have a good price.

The mystery to me is why http://www.fe3stone.com/ has been under construction for months. I'd sure like to see what else they've got.

BTW the Flat Iron would be a great light weight hunting blade. At this point, the Wegner fits the bill for me.
