Flat or Hollow grind Chinook?

Well, I am going to make up my mind by my next paycheck. I want to replace my EDC I have had for the past 5 years with something Spyderco.

The runnings are kind of between the Chinook, Manix, and D'allera. I know the D'allera is near 1/2 the price of the others, but it is ALOT of knife. (They all have to be ambi, as that I am a southpaw.)

I realized today cutting a thread off of my girlfriend's t-shirt with my 5 year old BM 710 that pretty much anyone who knows me thinks I am a little "off". So I figured why not go for something relatively big, and redicliously well made so that it will last me at least the next 5 years?

So my question is what would yall choose? And between a Flat and Hollow grind?

flat definitely and I would say go with the manix. I have all 3 and its my favorite I dont have a chinook 3 mine is a 2. For general use the manix is the way to go. The d'allara is great but the manix has a better feel to it IMO.

I have been leaning Manix also. S30V and flat grind in a more utility style blade.

I don't know... perhaps I will feel differently by next week. I never know. That is why I have stuck with my 710 for so long and have made sheath knife after sheath knife, never bothering to figure out what I want to carry next. Just trying my own stuff out... but I digress...

I think the Manix will serve your everyday cutting needs better than the Chinook. The Chinook was designed with self-defense in mind and the blade shape limits its use for general tasks a bit. I think the big leaf shaped blade on the Manix is a better choice. From trimming threads to cutting cardboard to slicing food, it's a winner. From what I hear (I don't own the Manix, but I have the Chinook III, the full flat grind) the Manix is a tank and will take some serious abuse if you need it. I do have a Lil' Temperance (similar blade shape) and that thing is my favorite Spydie. Good luck.
