I stopped in to the SFO today and picked-up a few goodies, including a couple of Flatbyrds (BY16P) to use as birthday presents this year. This Byrd line is really growing, and offers some very good value. While I was there, a gentleman came in to buy knives as gifts to the groomsmen in his up and coming wedding. I told him that he was one thoughtful fella, and I would be pleased to be one if he needed the help. As I was leaving, he was stuck between the Delica IV and the Native. What a guy.

I saw these yesterday also. They look like an updated version of the Spydercard. I am going to pick one up for my mini survival kit, looks like one of these might fit in the bottom of an Altoids tin.

Hi Ducktaper,

Congrats on the flatbyrd. I think you got one of the first. Gail snatched them from the QC station to put in the store.

The flatbyrd is a refinement of the original Eduard Bradichanski Spydercard.

It is being made with permission from Eduard's wife and she will receive royalties for the design. Eduard's logo isn't on the first run. An oversight on my part. It will be included on future runs, the next of which is already in motion. Reaction has been good on the model.

hey Brucester,

It will in fact fit into an Altoid's tin, and at 1/4" thick, it doesn't take up much space in the tin. It is quite thin, yet substantial, and is at this time somewhat unique in the market. Priced well also.

Mr Glesser,
Your Bride was in the shop when I was there. I got the history of the Byrd line, quite an interesting one. In fact, I learned some other historical info on some other blades of mine, such as their factory evolution. I can see how you would value her counsel. While I'm not going to be trading any of my Round-Holers for a Comet any time soon, I must admit when you can see the entire Byrd line-up in person, it is an impressive selection & value.

I do have a question: I have some Lil Temps that don't have the stop pin coming through the scales, and yet I've seen some that do. Is there a story to the difference? Thank you, Sir.

Sometimes we do "blind" stop-pins, sometimes we screw them in from the outside. There are arguments for both. We worked with two different vendors on the Lil Temp.

I prefer blind pins, but they are more difficult to make.
