Flattened out ball bearings

There is a ball bearing mounted into the side of the liner on linerlocks to make rub against the pivoting blade smoother.

Has anyone here experienced this ball bearing wearing out? It gets flat on top and starts to work against me. I've had this happen to several of my linerlocking knives, including, but not limited to my earlier BS's. Anyone have a similar problem/solution?

The detent ball (ball bearing you are referring to) serves a dual purpose in providing a pivot between the liner and blade but its primary duty is to fall into the hole which keeps the blade closed.

If the ball being worn flat there might be a problem in the heat treat specs on that particular ball. They are made of 440C and are very hard and usually wear for a very long time before any noticable wear. Send it back, I am sure it will be taken care of.
