The bayonet you display is a shortened Springfield Bayonet. I have one made by American Fork and Hoe company. It should have a reinforced plastic scabbard with a metal throat and hooks that would affix to the holes the belt in the picture. You can always tell the shortened old pattern ones as the fuller (the groove in the centre) carries right to the tip. http://arms2armor.com/Bayonets/usm1942.htm The picture shows the full length bayonet. I have both of these two, which will fit your M1 Garand. http://arms2armor.com/Bayonets/usm4.htm
Swiss Bayonets are very collectible as the Swiss never went to war. Consequently all there bayonets look brand new. Many are made of stainless steel with beautiful leatherwork. This image you posted illustrates the quality very well. I have one of these bayonets in equally good condition as shown.
OK, so I have to ask a final question? If the young lady is the 'girlfriend', and we have read about her, who is the young lady in purple that shoots the rifles? I like her better
If you can post some bayonets at a later date, I might be able to identify them. I have bayonets from most countries. The last time I counted I had over 60 but that was a while ago.
