Flea market finds

I found this Boker/Wiss 70163 locking tradesman's knife at a flea market - don't remember what I paid, but I'll say it was very little or I would not have it. What caught my eye was that the knife is in pristine, like new condition with the paper that came with it new, no box or packaging however.

How it got through the years with no box but a piece of paper is beyond me.

I go to flea markets from time to time with the wife, but I have never been fortunate enough to find anything of quality, mostly gas station knives and Pakistan steel blades. In this day In age, I believe even the novice and non knife person takes a quick look on the internet to see the worth of a knife. I agree with other posters that most will have better luck at a pawn shop or online for a deal.

I don't have the time to burn, and don't want to waste a day driving around on the possibility of finding an old knife for a few a few cents on the dollar. I just don't have the time. Worse, I don't have the patience. If I drove around an entire day looking for a project knife and wind up empty I would be pretty pissed off. in fact, I have been!

I am better off leaving that type of activity two others that enjoy whiling away their days doing that kind of thing. Spending a couple of weekends out and $50 worth of gas to come home with a $10 treasure just doesn't work for me. Maybe if I enjoyed the experience itself more I would make a better candidate.

I believe the thread started by needler420 is re: "Flea Market Finds" if anyone has ever found something interesting in or at a Flea Market.
Not about wasting money on gas, wasting time, whiling away their days, or the possibility of finding an old knife for a few a few cents on the dollar.
But thanks for letting us know it's not your thing and you have better things to spend your time doing.

My wife and I used to go "garage saling" every Saturday morning. We were out the door early so we could get the best deals. By 6am the dealers were already out in force. We would shop till we dropped. I have passed up some good deals on knives because I already had some like them and did not need more, and so I rarely bought them. I did find a good axe. Mostly, I found designer clothing, new condition, never worn and still with price tags, for my wife. I would pay, for example, $1 for a Jone New York skirt, $1 a piece for upscale purses, and etc. A lot of women will shop at the stores and never use what they buy, and then sell it all at a garage sale to make room for more. I have seen Buck 110's, Case knives, Camillus, and more going for $1 to $2 each.

There are 3 thrift stores that I drive by to get home each day. All three are local places that price very fairly. I stop by once a week and check them out. Maybe once a month I find something worth it, and usually it is a good find. Buck, cammillus, forgecraft........

In that condition ?????? Wow !
There's a guy in the flea that has a large triple wide booth that's wall to wall knives. He had 5 or 6 laundry baskets full of Randalls that he priced at or near Randall's original prices. He has Case, Benchmade, Spyderco, Italian stilettos and some customs. I'd name a brand and he's whip out a basket full of them. He even had a few Ox forge black knives. I had to change my shirt when I walked out because it was soaked in drool.

New SS Spyderco Delica just under $60 at the local swap meet on Saturday...then promptly gave myself the worst knife cut of my life two hours later.

Last summer I found a original spyderco police model for $10 I sold it to fund my cold steel.
