Ok guys. This is the batch that will be finished in about a week. They are all 3/16" thick O-1 steel. Sorry for the crappy pictures. I snapped them with my phone right before I left Andy's shop. We both had to run so we didn't have time to use a good camera in the light box.
The big one is a camp knife I came up with called the Hatchula. Some aspects of it were taken from members of Bladeforums who have talked several times about wanting a really wide blade camp knife (Pitdog made a good case for them several times so I mostly blame him for this
). My goal was to make a spatula for camp cooking. Then it became this awesome chopper/spatula/camp knife. It has a great convex grind and will have a killer black canvas micarta handle with black and red liners. I decided not to do the swedge or the hole in the blade and I think it came out a lot cleaner. It's also going to get stainless 1/4" tubes for pins.
Here is the concept drawing.
and here is the actual blade. The dark line on the grind is just a shadow.
This is the Delta Foxtrot. These three came out with incredible convex saber grinds. The bottom one is mine. You can't see it in these pictures, but a couple of these had some pattern in the forge scale that will knock your eyes out. It's abolutely gorgeous. Again, the dark line on the bottom one's grind is just a shadow.
These are the "Peoples' Knife" models. It's basically a Delta Foxtrot with a bottle opener on the butt. It's not going to be a regular model. These are just a few I did for my wife and I. I did three thinking I might mess one up and wanted to at least end up with one good one for her and one good one for me. Well all three of them turned out nice so one of them is going to be for sale. Normally I hate gimmicky stuff like bottle openers, saw backs, etc., but this design came from the last Blade show. The wife and I were using the exposed tang on my knife to pop beer caps off and I thought, "it would be fun to have a knife next year that actually had an opener on it instead of scratching the tang all to hell." Her and I drink enough bottled beverages that it made sense. Sooooo, mine is a full height flat chisel grind (I just wanted to try that grind out) and the other two are full height convex grinds. One of the convex versions will be for sale.
These babies are going to go FAST when they hit the Knifemaker's For Sale section and since my knives are going to be such limited numbers for a while, I want everyone to have a sporting chance at getting one. What I'm going to do is start an email list. It will be for all future batches unless someone asks to be removed from it. If you want to be on the email list just shoot me an email to fletcherknives at gmail dot com. When a batch gets finished, I'll send out an email to everyone on the list the day before they go in the for sale section that will give them the time the thread will be up. That way everyone gets a heads up and no one says, "aw damnit. if only I had checked the section earlier today. I wish I could have had a heads up."
