Flick or no flick with your Pm2?

I've never been the flicking type and after experimenting a little with the screws on my Pm2, I decided to tighten them to the point where my knife cannot be flicked open but can only be deployed with a controlled thumb in hole gradual opening. How do you all like your Pm2 set up, flick or no flick?

As loose as can be without blade play. I flick. No wrist action, just thumb flick.

I love flicking my knives open, I always try to adjust them such that this is possible. For my PM2, this unfortunately introduces blade play, though the blade is centered. If I want to eliminate play, it has to be tightened down to the point that it's virtually impossible to open with one hand, which is no fun - plus the blade gets off-center.

I wish the PM2 was a little more cut and dry for me. I compromised the ability to flick it open by tightening the pivot screws in order to keep the blade from going off center with no blade play. The minute you loosen the screws a little, the blade goes off center and causes a little blade play. You can't win.:(

As much as everyone loves the PM2 I thought this was the exception but seems to be the rule.

Spydie FLick..
You can find the sweet spot on pivot tightness.

But you guys are OCD in a big way possibly anal about the centering.
As long as it is not rubbing the liners.. Dont care

:thumbup: Ditto for me. I even don't mind a touch of play in my PM2. Same thing with my BM 940

I had a pre-drought PM2 that was a crank every thing down, free swinging, zero play work of art. I feel like once PM2s started becoming available again I started seeing all these issues.

I have mine so when I depress the compression lock the blade drops and nearly free swings. I don't even use the thumb hole, I just depress the lock and flick open the blade and close it the same way. I open my Manix 2 and all my Benchmades the same way as well, I rarely ever touch the blade.

Try polishing the washers.

The Para II has the pivot bushing doesn't it? It has screws on both sides of the pivot. I have my screws on mine tightened down all the way and there is still a reasonable amount of blade play. I just haven't got around to sending it to Spyderco, or maybe they'll send out new washer and hopefully they're a few thou thicker.

I like the middle finger flick.

Always flick recently it's been middle finger,I haven't loosened any screws at all, just pure break in by opening and closing a lot and by the way the screw right behind the pivot will make ALOT of difference on how tight the pivot reacts.

I never felt the need to flick. I once gave a brand new $400 folder to one of my sons. Within two minutes, he flicked it to the point where I needed to pry it with pliers to unlock it. Figured it must not be the best thing you can do...and heck, I'm not in a hurry.

I always liked to flick open the PM2. It just seemed to be made to do so. It never felt like the hard impact some knives have. I don't know if that's due to the comp-lock or the nice light blade, but it just didn't feel damaging at all.

No flick, adjusted to where there is slight resistance and no play. Polished washers and contact surfaces everywhere including pivot and pivot opening (Pivot and opening are generally shitty tolerance on mine. +-0.3mm)

Don't care about centering as long as it does not rub.
