flint rifle anyone?

I'm looking to get into flintlocks. My father is as well.We shoot them every year at Kings Landing Historical settelment just north of here. The turkey shoot is a ton of fun even if we don't hit anything.

My pick is Northstar West .60 cal smooth bore (20 ga). multi purpose flinter. More fun than most any thing you can do with cloths on. Matt Dennison is the owner and a right fine man to do business with. You can buy them finished or in kit form. Once you breath the black you want go back to center fire. Any thing out to 70 yds is round ball meat. Start with flint-if you start with cap you will have a cap lock safe queen. A good flint lock properly prepared is good in a light rain-find somebody to guide you. Muzzle loader mag has a good forum.

I agree, I love mine. You can use it from quail to deer if you want. The do all suvival blackpowder gun. Loosearrow

thanks again guys for all of your input. Which one of these kits do you guys think is the best Cabelas, thomspon cost a bit more. I have not been able to find the northstar kit that you guys mentioned when googled it, if any of you guys could provide a link or the model number of the gun it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I recently bought a .62/20 ga. early American flint fowler. I bought a bag mould and some good flints. It's a do-it all muzzleloader with traditional and historical significance that would be a practical hunting piece today.

I think the Northstar trade gun is a fine multi-purpose gun that I would love to have. The 36" barreled one looks handy. I understand the trade gun in kit form is one of the easiest to build of the advanced kits available. There are a few different kit makers out there with Northstar being one of the best.

Check out Track of the Wolf.com , they have a trade gun kit that looks to be a nice one.
