"Flinted steel" knives...

I was wondering if anyone besides me collects flinted steel knives, a la Bill Cheatham? Since I'm also interested in knapping, this seems to be a natural field of interest for me. What makers besides Cheatham have made this type of knife? I currently have four such knives:

1. Unknown origin, with a fake bear jaw

2. Arrowhead knife

3. Cheatham knife

4. United Cutlery Flint horn knife

So if there are any other collectors of these knives out there, show your stuff!

Kevin,
I just bought a Cheatham knife on e-bay. It's one of the AKCA 1991 club knives. I'm interested in finding out more myself so I'll be watching this thread.

I did a search on him and didn't come up with a lot, at least not in the forums. Any information would be appreciated. Bernard's 4th says Cheatham was the inventor/developer of "flint steel" blades.

Kevin,
I'm sure I've seen that first one on Ebay as a genuine bearjaw knife:eek:

Looks just the same!

Colin, I did in fact get that knife on ebay but it was posted as a fake jaw (otherwise ebay wouldn't allow it). However, I saw an identical one on ebay a month or so ago and this wasn't noted. So apparently, someone produced more than a couple of these. I would be very interested in finding out who.

Those are some real nice pieces you've got there, Larry! If you ever make any flinted hunters, let me know!

Larry,
SO how do you put that finish on the steel?
I would love to make some knives like that.
