Flipper fans I ask you; Olamic or Shirogorov?

I've had my eye on the 0452 for years. The dimensions are great but the actual shape of the handle makes it look cramped. The ergos reduce grip area. Not cool.
I've found it to be great with a bit of extra room, but I'm a large size in gloves. Definitely handle one if you get a chance they pocket very nicely and flip like lightning.

Intriguing! You've got me reconsidering things here..

Olamic 24/7 is a great value secondary typically selling in the low $300s. If you're patient they show up. I wouldn't spend 550+ on one.

My 24/7 was great and they are easy to work with. They anodized some screws the way I wanted with no issue at a fair price.

If I'm not mistaken, I think their blades and some other parts my either be fully finished or partially in Italy(?) and then fully completed and assembled in California.

Shiro is that next level. Only recently in the past 3 to 5 years have they become easy to get. Before then they had almost no network in the US. For me, they were more special back then when they were more elusive. That's said, they're machined perfection! Find one you like and buy it. They hold they're value better too. You never know when you might want to sell. You'll still take a loss for argument sake, but not the 50% cut you might with an Olamic.

Both are great knives, but Shiro is a different tier.

As I said, I’m new to this space.

I guess I should have laid out my intentions a bit better. I want a long (9.25in + as I have massive hands) and slender titanium framelock flipper in a great blade steel. I want it to be a user AND a looker. Great value and quality from a reputable builder.

The Olamic Rainmaker is about as close as I have seen to my ideal design. Does Shiro have a platform in similar dimension?

I own 3 Olamics (Wayfarer, Swish & Rainmaker) & 1 Shiro (Ursus).

For large hands & small budgets, the Rainmaker would be the choice but if you can get a Shiro for less than $500 as I did the Rainmaker, you'll impress more people who are in the "know" with it but since most people outside BF don't know anything about knives, if the price is the same, choice is yours.

First choice if you are buying a ready made would be a Shiro 111, I had one and honestly it is a pocket sword, I sold it because it was just to big for me.

The main thing the Olamic Rainmaker has over the Shiro 111 is that you can order a semi-custom one from Olamic. The custom part is mainly just cosmetic, but is why I bought and have kept mine.

Shiros for me are a better knife and hold their value more so than Olamics do
Here is my custom Rainmaker, not sure I would make all the same choices todayOlamic Rainmaker 1.jpg
