Flipper on washers

Boker Plus AK101. Light sanding the bronze washers improves performance noticeably.

For me it is this one. Two other gen 4 XM-18s of mine also flip great (with PB washers on) but this one is the best. All three definitely flip better than my tri-way XM-18 with PB washers on (maybe it just needs break-in idk).

It depends though. Like, i have a gen 4 XM-24 skinny and a gen 4 xm-18 3.5 fatty. I think it all depends on how the detent was tuned. My 24 doesn't flips as well as my fatty which has a real strong detent and once flipped you can feel the vibration reverberate through the whole knife. Sorry, if i derailed the thread.

The ZT 0770 runs on washers. It comes with the Speedsafe torsion bar, but I de-assist the ones that I have.

The Steel Will Modus D2, Boker Manasherov Warbird, and Boker CFM-A1 are other flippers that I know of that use washers.

Thanks for the ZT tip. The 0770 May be just what I'm looking for.

Could find one on bearings that fits real good in hand, take the bearings out & throw enough washers in it to work. Would have to do some research on sizes of PB washers to fit right & a little sanding for thickness sake, but it can be done. Just a thought.

Be warned though that not everyone likes running the ZT 0770 de-assisted, because, admittedly, the detent isn't tuned for manual flipping. That said, I prefer running them that way, even if I sometimes need to use a little wrist to ensure reliable deployment. The 0770 is one of my favorite ZT models.

Contemplating what I want in my next knife. I'm looking for a flipper that runs on washers. Seems like most of them run on bearings, nowdays.

Here are the ones I'm aware of...

Hinderer tri way, and the MP-1.
Older Shiro Hati's

What else is currently available?

Extra credit for photos, of course

I have a Steel Will Intrigue. Mine is the cheap version, wihich is on washers, D2 steel, flat ground to a fine edge.

Grayman Satu if you can locate one it has bronze washers and flips very good for such a big knife, better that the Hinderer XM18 I had.

Fantoni makes a flipper version of the CUT. BP washers as well. Only issue is finding one. Love my non-flipper. Once it breaks in its smooth as a baby's bottom!IMG_20200213_195307.jpg IMG_20200711_055243.jpg
