FLIPPER-Yes or No?

Yep. Makes knives easier to open regardless of what the haters say. Combine it with an assisted action folder and you've got a great thing.:thumbup:

I LOVE the flipper (Kershaw Groove & ZT 0200)...It's alot more positive and quicker for me than thumb-studs or the Spydiehole.

I find it great to have on AOs. I also like how they turn into finger guards when open.

I like Kershaw's Flippers but I don't care for other manufacturers Flippers. The other flippers require some wrist action and Kershaws don't. The flippers on the Ram and Skyline work better than AOs or AUtomatics.

BETO
====================
Sorry for my english :o

Assisted opening works very well with flipper.
For manual - not bad for heavy blades, like Kershaw JYD II.

With AO they aren't too bad, but I find manual ones unreliable in opening for me. I can open a knife much more consistently with a stud or hole. I never cared for using a flipper to open a knife in public either. Draws attention.

If the knife is AO then a flipper is mandatory IMO.

My favourite knives are NON-AO that you can open all the way with a flipper. In my case my Kershaw Groove and CRKT M16. I can sit there watching TV flipping those open and closed all day long.

When I got my Boker Trance, I was VERY dissapointed that a wrist flick was neccesary in combination with the flipper.

I prefer thumbstuds to opening holes (though even they aren't that bad) on non-AO's. While I rarely carry an AO, and when I do, it's a nearly always Camillus with a thumbstud. the flipper was a feature that gave me some serious WOW! factor when I bought my first Kershaw Speed Safe- and I would definetely prefer that feature on an AO if I was going to EDC one. The only downside is that people are more apt to think it's a switchblade when you use the flipper than the thumbstud- especially if they aren't knife people.

I will take ( and purchase ) a knife with a flipper on it before any other opening system. I also would not touch an AO without a flipper.

I like flippers, but they're not necessary for me to like a model. I like a lot of different opening methods. Not much of a fan of AO, but I don't hate them. I generally prefer manual everything including flippers.

Like the flipper, I have one w/ A/O and one without, both Kershaw, I should try some other brands too but those are both great. Took me several tries to get the hang of the non A/O but after that it's can't miss open. I feel like my hand and thumb is better positioned at opening than with thumbhole or stud.
