FLIPPER-Yes or No?

With AO they aren't too bad, but I find manual ones unreliable in opening for me.

I agree. I used to own and EDC a Leatherman C301 (301, partially serrated model). That has a toggle flipper, unlike the one piece blade protrusion style flipper on the Kershaw Ken Onion models. With practice, I could successfully every time. It was an addictive feature and fun to play with- though the thumbstud was probably not only faster opening, but more practical. The other thing is, other people I let try it (who are familiar enough with knives) had a lot of trouble useing the flipper.

I like the flippers on my DDR knives & my Hinderer.

I really cannot stand flippers and it's the only reason I haven't "pulled the trigger"(:D) on a DDR yet(from existing TNK stock).
I just don't like the way they make a knife look, plain and simple. I know they work well, but I've yet to come across a time when I needed a knife to be opened quicker than with the hole or stud.
On a side note, I don't have any use for AOs, either.

You can always remove the flipper with an angle grinder, can't you?:D;)

Serious now, I like the flipper on this one: (Lightfoot Full Contact)

It acts as a finger guard as well.

I did in the beginning. Lots of fun and quick. But I find over time they 'slow down'. Light lint seems to be more obstructive with flippers than even with lockbacks (liner locks mostly immune to lint, IMO). So, I'll stick with holes and studs.

No due to legality reasons, if I get caught carrying a knife I don't want them to easily add it to the list of things they'll screw me with. Ignoring that, I like them since they can double as a hilt.

Flippers rule IMO. I really feel more secure with that extra "finger" guard. I know it's not needed but it makes me feel better. I love the one on my ZT 301 and on my XM-18 (on order).

Another vote for yea on the flippers, cause of the easy opening(AO or not) & the finger guard.
Really like the JYDII's & the Leek's especially.

Nice thing about flippers is that like a manual opening knife, there's nothing "extra" to break or go out (No springs, bars, etc.) & the flipper acts as a finger guard. Personally, the nicest production flippers I've had are the Groove & RAM (Both by Kershaw), although I'm sure the Skyline is great. I also like the ZT 0200, but they're pretty big.

i like 'em though only a couple of my knives have them right now, i dont see any cons to 'em.

Although I don't have one yet I believe that I will like the flipper action.

I like them

Manual, flipper then if I need the thumbstud
OA, easier to use than a thumbstud

If there are two equal knives, one would take the knife with a flipper.

Love the flipper, cant get enough of'em. Or the axis lock, that thing rules.

Great on the CRKT M16/M18 due to clean and fast opening while staying manual considering some places AO is illegal
