Flippers vs. Thumbstuds

I´ve had problems with both methods. The problems came when the knives stopped opening smoothly because the detention ball was having too much friction because of excessive flicking of the knives. And i did clean those knives and oiled them many times but i think the ball developes some wear in the groove it travels in.

CRKT M16 has a thumb stud that i have never managed to use when the blade is fully closed because of poor geometry (thumb stud is against the handle without any gap). When the friction came in the flipper opened the blade just to 1/3 open and i had to finish the opening with thumb stud. First time this happened i split my fingernail badly because i had to use more force to open and i have pretty short nails all the time.

RAT-1 with a thumb stud worked well with gloves and without for a year. When the action went bad i ended up having a big cut in my thumb for the same reason as above.

I think i prefer only lockbacks or friction folders from now on.
