So... as the title says. Give me your tips on flippers with beefy - but especially thick blades! I’m talking Praetorian, KABAR BK22-style.

And please dont make my life worse by tempting me with $$$ customs! :-)

All of the blade shops I know tou can specify which length you prefer on the blade... but never the thickness.

I'm not sure how thick a blade you need but Hinderer XM is more than sufficiently thick for me. Zt 0200 is also pretty thick.

Check out ZT0220. Beautiful workhorse.

Also check out Medford Knives' line up. They're known for thick blades.

Almost all high end flippers these days use nearly identical 4mm/.160" thick stock (ZT, Hinderer, WE, Reate, etc), or occasionally in 3/16"/.1875" thick stock (XM-24 or 18 Fatty, Brous), accounting for differences in surface grinding processes. This is why I find it humorous when some people claim that some knives are too thick when failing to make that comment on others with identical blade stock and nearly identical primary grind geometry.

I think you'd have to go to Medford or some other limited run maker to find something that's not in one of those two stock thicknesses.

Three Sisters Forge knives have thick blades. I've seen them going for good to great prices on the sales forum.

You won't find many thick blade knives under $500+

Pmp knives is rather new but have a few thick ass blades.

Most zt's are thick blades... But not Medford thick.

I skimmed through and didn't see it listed so.. ZT's 0900! .16 inch blade stock in a 2.75 inch blade. Pretty tough to beat that for toughness. Mine instantly became my favorite beater, and best of all the action is pretty damn great.

If I had one complaint it'd be that ZT ran these with S35VN. If they went with Elmax I'd be in love.

One word of caution, though.. I have smaller hands than most, so if your mitts are oversized than it may not be the best knife for you.

How much "thicker" do you need

And you can buy two for under $500 and still have $ left over

Surprised no one has called out any hinderer model specifically. I have an MP-1, and it's plenty thick and beefy, yet quite usable and carries well.

Not sure if the OP is looking for practical suggestions, or just "who holds the record".

ZT0220 and Hinderer XM-18 3.5 Fatty are definitely ones to consider. Harpoon Tanto Fattys are still available at some dealers!
