Flitz (or other)...does it work

Flitz is a favorite of mine.

It absolutely works. But, keep in mind that it is a chemical polish. It's actually non-abrasive. So, rubbing it is only done to work it into patterns or scratches. After that, it's the chemical action which does the job. That may take time. So, just allow it to sit for a minute or two.

Toothpaste can work well on some things... but it is actually surprisingly abrasive.

Anyway, a couple more questions...if I were to use Flitz on the edge of a coated blade, how careful do I have to be with the coating, if at all? Also, someone mentioned being careful with etching...laser etching? I would think laser etching would be fine since it is physically carved into the blade. What am I missing?

Thanks again all!

Any info out there on my follow up question? :)

Hi, I was sharpening my blade and the rust on the edge magically disappeared.

Gee thanks, but what if you don't need to sharpen it or don't want to take the time? I'd still like to know about using the Flitz on an edge of a coated blade knife, as well as about the etching. Thanks.

I use a German product called Autosol Chrome polish. Works great. Koval Knife Supply put me on to it when they were still in Columbus Ohio.
