Have been told that Flitz is great for polishing bolsters and may taking some patina off a CV blade. Noticed there's a blue Flitz and a green Flitz. Is one better than the other? Thanks.

I always have blue on hand. Every bolster gets a final polishing with it before shipping:

I have yet to try Flitz. I’d like to get something for my stainless steel blades to polish them up. But I assume it’s important to keep it from the cutting edge of the blade in order to avoid dulling it since Flitz is an abrasive.

ive never seen blue flitz, so i suppose i have green flitz. it is certainly versatile. even used it to clean up the headlight covers once. but ive used it to polish a 1095 blade a bit as an experiment.

I've never noticed it dulling a blade. I suppose it might if you gob it all over a blade and rub forever. A tiny amount is all that is needed. A tube normally lasts me ten years or more. 😊

Gotcha. So a little on a rag should shine up a blade without dulling the edge? All of my blades are stainless (S30V , M390 etc).

I would think you would have a hard time shining up M390 with flitz. I have not tried it, just throwing it out there as another opinion to consider.

Flitz is not generally available in the UK, so I have to order it at some expense, but it is well worth it, the best product of its kind I've found by far. As well as polishing blades and bolsters, I've also used it to improve blade action.

My flitz is in a grey/silver tube. It works great for polishing up bolsters and the occasional rust pitting. It’s worked great removing rust from S35VN as well. I’ve also used it to polish my sterling silver chain and cross, and let me tell you it’s more polished and shiny than when it was new.

I’m contemplating using it to remove the patina off one of my GEC’s soon
