After much thought on this subject this is the conclusion I've come up with.
I'm going to "Pay It Forward" - I own the book How To Make Knives by Bob Loveless. I'm going to "Donate" this book to a BladeForums member who wants to read it and I'll cover the postage.
All I ask is that the person who recieves this book reads it 1 or 2 times and then post here offering the book to another who wishes to learn and agrees to the terms of
1. read
2. post the book up for grabs here in shop talk to another who'll agree to these terms or send back to me.
3. cover postage to the next person.
I do accept the risk that this may have a short run before "finding" a permanent owner. My intention is that new recievers will gladly accept the responsability of keeping the book moving and honor their commitment.
I know PJ 234 does not own this book and wants to read it so I'm offering first dibbs on it to him if he chooses to agree to these simple terms. Once he yea's or ney's I'll either send it out or post it UP FOR GRABS.
Ideally I'd like to keep a thread going to track this 1 book so we all can see where it goes and how many people benefit from it.
For anyone who likes this model of sharing info and accepts the risk of loss I will gladly accept any donated materials and post them UP FOR GRABS here in shop talk to find another interested party after I've read/viewed the material. I'm not far from getting a website up and running so in the event that I end up with donated materials either without takers or comming back to me I'll include a section for "available materials" so that those who desire instructional info can contact me to become a reciever.
Anyone wishing to donate to this "cause" can PM or e-mail me a brief message and I'll provide my adress and take care of everything else.
This seems to me to be the best solution without becomming a logistical nightmare for me but still maintaining the free sharing of media among any and all who wish to participate.
Thank you very much for reading this and following my last thread
