FLORIDA--from a Drought to Swamp--6 days and counting

A) the Bamboo will help loosen up your 'soil'; and B) get yourself some EARTHBOXs for gardening down there. They were/are made over on the West Coast of FL IIRC. Best dang garden idea in the 35 yrs I've been at it.

I love bamboo and grow a few different kinds. The ones I'll put in the ground here are Bambusa Vulgaris 'wamin' and B. Ventricosa, two different kinds of Buddha's Belly with the wamin being the real deal. Should look good and require minimal maintenance since they both only clump about 4-5 feet wide.

I'd never heard of the earthboxes but they seem like a really cool idea. Smaller than what I had in mind though. What I've done in the past, and will probably do here, is just raised beds enclosed by 2x10 boards and filled with good rich soil. I figure I have space for 4 or 5 of them with plenty of space left over for landscaping and fruiting plants.
