Florida Knife laws

If I'm in the woods. I open carry my machete in my hand usually. If I carry a fixed anywhere else which is rare I fully conceal it. But I usually carry a firearm and folders then. I probably live not too far from you I'm in west central Florida too.

State law is pretty clear. Open carried any knife is legal from a sword to an automatic.....ballistics are illegal. With a ccw permit. Florida is one of the few states that calls it weapons...which includes firearms, knives of all kinds except ballistic ones, clubs, whatever.

The problem is while state law is the only law for firearms, our wonderful people in the nra forgot to include knives in there. Not to worry though florida carry is working on that and other groups. Id state them all but I forget and don't want to give credit to those who aren't working on it and vice versa

Local knife laws can be nuts in the big cities, miami, tampa, yep even orlando. Hopefully they'll add knives to our gun laws and have one set of laws to cover the entire state....and help law abiders follow the laws.

That said most leo are good folks and don't care about knives in the 5 counties that make up metro orlando...orange, seminole, osceola, lake, and volusia. There are some rotten apples though that will act like a big city cop and confiscate and arrest you. Happens occasionally.

I also live in Myrtle Beach. I love our knife and actually weapon laws in general. It's a rude awakening leaving the state and being subject to other laws. I have a Kershaw Rake that is currently residing (confiscated) in Michigan for this reason.
