Florida stinks

Wolf, you could always go directly to Microtech in Vero Beach, and not to mention there are some very good auto makers here in Florida.Dave

Maybe it is just me whining. Afterall I am just a guest here in Florida. Maybe it's my paranoia. My Buddy is a Deputy with one of the two largest Counties in Southern Florida. I will not say whether it is Broward or Dade. But the standard of late is going after the hi-end production Auto's and the Super Custom Auto's. No arrests, No Fines, No prosecutions, just confiscation. If the Dealer is also a Gun Dealer they will alert ATF to possibly strip the Dealer of his FFL. They do not bother too much with the Clone stuff and there is so much activity they just do not have the resources, THANKFULLY, to proclaim an all out attack on auto and "gravity" knives in accordance with the Circuit Court rulings. As he explained to me, it is a now Case Law proclamation that it is unlawful for ANYONE to possess a knife fitting the broad definition given by the circuit Court. So if you are the unlucky guy that has his number rolled, you "could", NOT ABSOLUTELY WILL, but "could" have your entire showroom of auto's taken as Contraband. And of course, as in any profession, there are those who just might chuck for example purposes only, not saying it happened, a New Brad Duncan designed auto, that I am drooling over trying to find to just put in my safe, sticking in his boot and at the end of the day is THROWN in the Kitchen "junk drawer", we all have one of those!!!! (LOL) and not have a clue whether it's a $30.00 P.O.S. or a $650.00 piece of gorgeous art to someone like me. Let me finish WHINING, I am a NEWBIE and I have some cheese here, so I need to finish this whine and I will end this thread and try to get home what I have already feel like I have stolen. This is just another silly Court Ruling waiting to be overturned and the Government KNOWS it, but until the suit is filed and the motions hit the bench of the appellate Courts and someone throws down the 60 grand to blow this ruling out of the water, JOHN Q. CITIZEN is again on the losing end, the little guy is just wholesaling his autos at anything he can get and NEWBIES like me feel like a P.O.S. when I buy several thousand dollars worth of hi-end autos, some I already own at 25 cents on the dollar. He is afraid, He is New at Dealing, he has a stock consisiting of one of each and he laid out the cash and has a family to feed and is a law abiding, very compliant, very respectful to the Legal decsions and scared to death he will lose everything and end up with nothing what so ever. I want out of this business I will take it in CASH poor time knife dealer. Now the Big Gun Dealers. I am far too new to understand why Vero Beach can still kick out their UDT's, Why there are many Brick and mortars still conducting business as usual and Steve at Guns and Knives wholesaled his ENTIRE Stock of autos because he could not take the risk of losing all his money, his FFL and his Business. So I am done whining, I am going home with some nice knifes feeling dirty as hell because I feel like I stole them and will be sweating like a druggie trying to smuggle crack in my suitcase back to New England. OK WOLFIE, the Newbie shut up now and go back to learning from the Master's and be the lurker cause' you have an awful lot to learn, but is it all me or is there an injustice in action here in Florida? Thank you and I am really sorry to whine, just really too new to figure this knife mentality out. Knife as ONLY a weapon crap???????????wolf

Wolfman,
Why this would concern the police in Miami is anybody's guess as the opinion would only be binding on those courts and thus those departments, served by the 4th district court of appeals located in West Palm Beach. This covers the counties Broward north through Indian River where Vero Beach is located. I certainly hope this decision has been appealed to the Fl Supreme Court as this court was obviously way off base. That in my not so humble opinion. I remember when the law was passed against ballistic or projectile knives and the subject of auto's never was brought up. I was new in law enforcement then and the big topic of these knives was their ability to penetrate body armor.
Rant off!

I am going HOME to the BOONIES!!!!! Back to the Blade Auction and the Blade Forums. I have Come to Florida with a plan, and left a very very confused and angry NEWBIE. As I write this, I know NO ONE has yet to file the appeal. How many autos does a DEALER need to sell to recoup the 60 Grand needed to fight Big Brother?. Put five Brick and Mortar Dealers in a room to join as one voice and work out that strategy and of course no one can agree. In my 24 years in Law Enforcement I have watched some stupid CASE LAW, but this one takes the cake. The officers do not want to enforce it, Some Brass do not and SOME DO. So it's like a crap shoot. The risks are high but maybe the chances are low. I would not care as I am a Newbie and I don't have the same money into Knives like Steve at Guns N Knives in FT Lauderdale. I don't make my living which requires an FFL. Why Vero Beach can mass produce, why some dealers laugh at this silliness while others sweat, and some even cry. GOT ME, I am too new at this. So to all in Florida, thanks for helping me out. I will work with you thru the net. To those here on the BF I remain your loyal and dedicated student and man have I got a lot to learn. But someone needs to jump into the throats of the Fourth Circuit, pull their small brains up to their heads and not where they are now and remind them this CASE LAW screwed lots of victims, cut a FELON loose and I invite that felon to my turf to bring his P.O.S. knife so I can hone up on the art of the "Double tap"... Peace and going home to the MOUNTAINS!!!!! wolf

Is this the same Florida that has so may problems with Chads? I guess now we have a better idea of how they got into that problem....

Regards,

Ed

You were right! No auto's to be found anywhere near the Orlando area. I did find a nice pair of brass knuckles though, couldn't buy them because by this time I ran out of cash! :(

Other than that, Florida was REAL NICE. No way does Florida stink!! I loved that HOT steamy weather and all the nice folks I encountered there were nothing but spectacular! Auto's, oh well, there is always the internet that has been mentioned.
