A bit of vicarious springtime for those living in areas where Winter has not yet loosed Her hold.

Josh, those are lovely!! Thanks for sharing with us. :) The weather here can't deside what it wants to do. One day it's like Spring the next it's winter. Sometimes I don't care which way the weather went just wish it would make up it's mind. Your pictures give me the hope of Spring! :D

Sounds like the Ohio River Valley. We have a good chance of 50+ degree days coming up next week...with a chance of a 3" snow by next weekend. The wife wants to head to the winery for her birthday next saturday, but if the roads are bad that might not be in the cards. She's OK with that. She says there are worse birthdays than being snowed in with her husband:D:thumbup:
Spring is going to be here before we know it. Double edged sword in my case. The sun is high, the flowers bloom, and I'm pulling my hair out making and taking phone calls. 'Tis the nature of the beast though. Great pics, Josh. Thanks so much.

Josh you take good pics. We have had upper 50's to 60+ afternoons and close to freezing or at freezing mornings all week. I rode home with my windows down twice this week. The trees are budding and don't know what to do in the mornings.

Dazzle and beguile us with flowers, our khukuris and other arms no barrior to a blossom's overiding goodness.

Spring is coming. New things are coming.

Just in time to be crushed beneath the mighty feet of frost giants, pressed down into the muddy snow by the slithering bellies of passing river dragons.

River Dragons...Damn them. I still remember that time they took Emmy Lou.

There is no finer music to my ears than the ringing of finely tempered steel as it slices through plated wormflesh.

This one smashed through the fence, killed three of my oxen, and dragged the bodies back to the river before I slew it. Note the hideous encrustation of filth upon its scales. It was corkscrewing through the dirt like some unholy ant lion. Don't be fooled by the relatively diminutive size. All fangs and gristle, I tell you.

..and they just keep taking, taking, chomping away on the person still alive and screaming. They're intelligent; this is no dumb animal act. They know well the person is alive and that it matters to us. They know and still prolong the eating, nibbling at the outside as a chicken drumstick, savoring the layers of meat until finally cracking the vital bone at the center.

You'll love a couple of dragon stories then Josh. A few years back I was doing extensive research on historical dragon accounts and ran across a couple that really stuck with me.

In one instance, there was a dragon terrorizing the countryside (naturally), but unlike other dragons, this one killed it's victims by wrapping around them and crushing them to death (hmmmm, boa constrictor?). Well, one clever knight had his armorer produce a suit of armor with sharp blades projecting from every possible surface. Things did not go well for the dragon.

In another story yet another gallant knight is locked in mortal combat with a dragon possessing a very useful supernatural ability. Soon as the knight would cleave off one of the dragon's body parts with his sword, the various bits would reattach, allowing the dragon to reconstitute. The knight, gradually growing weary from the fierce struggle, pretty much knew he'd met his end. Just then, his faithful dog realized his master's plight and came up with a bold strategy. As quick as the knight's gleaming blade lopped something off, the dog would bravely dash in, sieze it in his jaws, and carry it off a ways to bury it, so it could not reattach itself. The strategy worked, the dragon was slain, and once more it was proven that dog is dragonslayer's best friend. ;)

I have long been a fan of any lily or iris. With the iris and the type of lily that Josh has graced us with the very center really resembles something dear to all heterosexual men.:o  ;) :p

Munk--best summation of river dragon motivation I've ever read.

Yvsa--you mean pollen, right?

Sarge--that last one almost sounds like a variation of Hercules and the Hydra.
