Fluted Guards

Hello Members,

How do you guys create your fluting on guard material? I use a dremel with a cut off wheel to create the line, then use a chainsaw file to enlarge and round out.

Does anybody use a special jig?

first scratch a line with the tip of a drill bit, then file the line with a triangular needle file, then go over it with a round file.
Next wrap increasinly finer sandpaper around the shaft of a 0,5mm smaller diameter drill bit to polish the inside.
Take it to 2500 gritt and make it shiny inside

I do the same thing with the sandpaper, only I roll it around a brass rod.

You can put a Dremel cut off wheel in your drill press to establish the line/groove then follow with the round file.
