Fluted Titanium Military?

I like the blue on yours way better than mine

From the picture yours appears to have the lock bar insert?

Also your box is different

Would mine be one of the first ones released because of the no lock bar insert?

Do the current ones have the lock bar insert?

Yes, mine has the steel insert on the lock bar. For reference, the date code on my box is FK (6/2011). All current titanium Militarys have the steel insert. Yours may have been first production as these didn't have the steel insert. I have the original red/black current box. When taking the picture, I just happened to use a spare older gray box.

My Date Code is DK, So would that be {4/2011} So does that make mine first production?

I have one without the lock-bar insert, or a CC#. I know mine was part of the same run as the CC#'d knives, all of which were the very first run, I'll check the date code when I get home and report back.

It's the bigfoot of knives. Yeah there are photos of it out there but there is no real proof it exists. Just kidding guys. Those are some awesome pics, esp. that blue one!

ROFL I'm starting to feel that way. This is the longest I have ever had anything on pre-order.

Wow.. I'd love one of these. I'd love to take the lockbar side and a front cf scale with my m390 blade :D

Thanks eloreno

I guess that makes yours 3/2011 ?

That's correct. Both of ours are from the first production run, which did not have the lock bar insert, which in my opinion makes them the rarest of the already rare titanium fluted militarys out there. Of course if/when we see more of these knives come out of golden, they will all have the lockbar insert. I'm not worried about the lack of the insert on my knife, it locks up early and solid. We've got some rare birds here RICKSTER!!

I was thinking of getting one and just changing out the s30v blade for an s90v. "The ultimate military" would it work?

Maybe but probably not well. When swapping blades it is always best to keep the original blade and lock as a set for proper lockup.

Yes and yes.

Since your knife has a collectors club number and they get their knives first, it is certainly from the first run, or at least one of the first couple of runs (since each run seems to be produced in such small numbers).

The currently shipping ones all have the steel insert, as this was added not too long after the fluted Millie was introduced.

It does not work well. I tried the CTS-XHP blade in my fluted millie, and while it worked, something just wasn't right. It locked up much later, and not as solid as with the S30V blade that came in the knife.

I recently did some experimenting with the Ti/G10/M4 and the M390 and was one for two. One didn't lock up at all, but the other one is fine. I am not recommending that people do this...lose the warranty, maybe lose a finger...proceed at your own risk. :) Also, I have no idea whether trying this with the Ti versions without the lockbar insert would affect things.

I like the anodizing on that one. It's more subtle - I'm not so fond of the vibrantly colored handles I've seen on other knives.

This knife has been deviling me as well. CutleryShoppe won't even take my pre-order money -- even after I begged in a personal email. When a vendor refuses your money outright, even when you declare you don't care how long the wait is, its a bad sign :) I hope Spyderco recognizes the pent up afi demand and continues to make them. In the meantime, I will patiently await my LionSpy backorder. As a side note, I really fear the beautiful fluted ti native will be in the same boat.

Native might be more available than a fluted millie. The reason this knife is harder to produce is because it's not only fluted, but the colors you see on them are 1 of a kind since they are flamed by hand afaik.
