Could it be more expensive then bass fishing? I have a small fortune in rods, reels, and lures.

Fly rods are like knives, no matter how many you have or how much you have invested you always want another. Great looking flies especially the bead heads.

I have a fly rod and reel that I got for free, but have never used the setup. I need to get a few flies and try. We use flies in the mountains, but use a regular rod and tie the fly behind a small clear "bubble" bobber.

bass fly fishing on a 3wt. That's hard core!! I use an altoids tin for my tiny ice jigs and it works great. The only thing is did you glue the foam on the tin? Do you think the glue smell will affect the smell of the fly to the fish?

Great Idea. I've got several fly boxes in the truck with me. I'm just learning to fly fish but living on a river, if I ever get home, I will get to play. I've got a 9ft 9wt for steelhead and just picked up a 7'6" 3wt I'm dying to try.

the bass in the little lake near my house aren't very big. I think the biggest I have seen is about 2-3 pounds. now in the delta near Sacramento I have seen 9-10 pounders..that would snap my little rod.

You gotta have some steady hands to do that! Why aren't you posting a picture of the ugly moth one? Haha.

Nice Idea Boomstic:thumbup:

I've done something similar, but not with altoid-tins. might give it a go;)

How did you make that fly on the bottom right (fish-egg fly)?

I`ve got some similar boxes from my time tying flies.
I made most of mine from tobacco tins though. Or more presice boxes for sigarillos.
I seldom use a fly rod, but often fish with flies. I use them behind lures, with a float and so on.
