Does anyone carry a fly fishing kit or crankbait lure in their PSK? Does anyone have any recommendations?

i keep a fly or 2 in my PSK's... i have always thought it was a good idea, especially if you already have some fishing line...

During summer backpacking trips, my fishing kit fits into a flattened gallon ziplock bag:
Fishing pole is a compact spinning rod w/ 4lb line, aimed mainly at trouts in the Sierra Nevada.

-dry flys
-nymphs
-Spinners
-KastMasters
-shorty salmon egg hooks, w/ salmon eggs

I never have any luck with those rubbery little artificials.

I put some elk hair caddis fly, a San Juan worm, wooly bugger, an egg, and a midge. all of these are pretty basic flies and they are easy to tie. plus is you buy the material to tie them you get about 100 + each out of the packs of material.

I carry a few 1/32, 1/16 and 1/8 oz lead head jigs in my BOB fishing kit. You can use them with live bait, small plastics or dress them up with thread from your clothing. They can be jigged vertically or retrieved horizontally. Ive caught almost any freshwater species you can name with them and a lot of saltwater species also with a larger jig. They are very versatile.--KV
