Flying with Knives?

Well i'm wateing to board the plane. The knives went through just fine. I put them in a locked handgun case that has 2 padlocks. I told them i had a locked gun case the i needed to check that did not have a gun in it. They just left it in my checked on bag and did not even open it. they told me that as long as it does not look like a gun when it's x-rayed it's ok. and if they need to open it then they will page me for the key. but the problem i did have was paying ten bucks for a super small pizza with a drink and what at one time could have been considered a bread stick :D

Jarod,

We're all holding our breath to hear how it went. To think you're in route to Hawaii. To answer your question, I'm not sure Hawaii, or anywhere for that matter, is ready for YOU, but it is EAGER for your arrival!

All the best, Phil

I fly out of Dulles all the time and they steal stuff out of bags pretty often, as I've learned over the years. I wouldnt check anything into a bag that you cant stand having ripped off.

Everything went great and my knives where not touched. Hay phil we should get in contact with each other and do lunch or dinner some time it would be fun.

Hey another bit of good advice is to buy a GPS tracker/locator and put it in your case with your knives and lock your case with non tsa approved locks. That way if anyone steels your case you can track them right to there house. You can even check if your knives are on the same airplane as you via laptop or cell phone in real time.

I suggest a pelican case and heavy duty locks. Also travel with a handgun so TSA has to check your luggage and then you can lock everything up even your suitcase with NON TSA APPROVED LOCKS.

Maybe its just because im Canadian. but i find it highly amusing you guys are recommending he carry a gun to make flying less problematic.

I love the USA. Do the Canadian criminals obey the gun laws up there? Our criminals do not obey the ones we have and I suspect it is the same everywhere.

Enjoy your trip JT

Its mostly just that we don't have a fascination with guns, its a cultural thing i guess, our constitution isn't as bad ass as yours is. I was mostly just saying that in Canada it would significantly more trouble to fly with a firearm.

Our criminals tend to keep towards shooting at our criminals in any event, few tragic incidents between. working towards paramedic license, I'll let you know first hand in a few months.

OK

I live near the border just south of you and have some Canadian friends and even worked with a bunch of Canadians in the oil fields. A Canadian friend once explained the major difference between Americans and Canadians like this

It would be impossible for ANY government officials to clear out the stadium in the 3rd quarter of the Superbowl. To clear out a Stanley Cup Game in the 3rd period in a Canadian city they would just have to ask everyone to please leave.:D

Glad to hear it all went well JT. Yes, by all means lets get together. I bet it'll be tricky though. Aren't you over in the direction of the north shore some where? When will you get Honolulu or Waikiki way? I'd be THRILLED if you and Bubba could come by where I've setup shop at the Honolulu Waldorf High School in Kahala. Maybe we could fool around a little and you could show me grinding stuffs :D. I sent you an email, look like I can't send you a PM.

Ken I sure hope to meet up with you some day. Sounds like you have a lot of tricks up your sleeves when it comes to knives, including making sure they get there. Sorry to hear about the case of blades that didn't make it to CA. Did they ever show back up????
