Hi all, I have been lurking around the forums and specially here in this sub-forum for quite a while now and just observing, studying, and getting to know the overall dynamics of the BK&T and BladeForums in general. And I must thank you all for your selfless sharing of information (and actual, tangible tools as well) that feeds the collective knowledge of many things that are of interest to the people here. All of them are of great value and has helped to a good extent in developing my own awareness of knives, BK&T, survival, and a host of other subjects that gets discussed here.

I came here upon watching Adam of Equipped to Endure's test of the BK2. What a knife. And like most who come here, the realization of Beckerdom has me wanting one of each and 2 of the good ones (which means I may end of with 2 of everything at some point). This place has me BK&T-dreaming everyday since. And this place reminds me of my nice neighbors, what a helpful and lively community. A good part of my daily entertainment comes from this place :D

In an ideal situation, I would have placed my order at Tomars every couple of months or so for the BK2, BK11, BK9, BK16, and the rest (in that particular order and my brother wants the king especially) but I live in the Philippines which makes it difficult for both buyer and supplier to work smoothly as the customs here is rather unpredictable. Luckily my friend was coming home to get married and it provided me with an opportunity. And I asked her to buy specifically from Tomars (Moose still wasn't selling at that time unfortunately).

So here goes (I hope the pictures show up):

The Beast

Can't wait to take the Beast and the 11 out. Or more importantly study and practice skills suited for my neck of the woods. Build shelter, fire kits, traps, and lots of fun, fulfilling and useful skills. The Beast really feels comfortable in the grips I pictured above. I haven't tried it sweaty or wet hands, but the grivory feels just right to me. Handling it inspires confidence but at the same time is a reminder to get out, woodshed, and have the skills to make my self worthy of such an amazing blade.

The 11 has been with me everyday in my front right pocket everyday for the past week. They are both still waiting for real tasks to come by, but their comfortable to practice with and so I think they will perform and perform beyond their price point. Best of all my fiancee approves ;)

In profoundness and profanity,

Congrats man and welcome! Happy to have you. Adam from E2E indirectly led me here too. That guy owes me some money...

An E2E interview with Ethan Becker is what brought me here and got me into this whole customizing Beckers thing too.

Kumusta namida! :) Nice collection you have going. I know there's no lack of bladesmiths in the P.I. so it's high praise you seek Beckers and others too.

Congratulations on the engagement and Best Wishes!

The idea of owning a highly capable yet affordable platform of a knife really intrigued and you can see it in E2E videos how the BK2 transformed! And Ethan is an interesting person to say the least, i like listening to the rationales of his designs.

Kamusta PapaTango52! (Kabayan?) and thank you! All of them are users, the thicker Scandinavian knife, I used to crack open a couple of coconuts  While there are indeed no shortage of bladesmitshs here, I'd like to get exactly what I want and get it right the first time. Buy once, cry once. Maybe when time allows for it, I'll find a bladesmith I can work with here who is hopefully up to date with heat treatment and materials. Until then, its gonna be Beckers, because their qualities are well documented and thus takes out the guess work for my part.

welcome!
solid first selections.

thanks folks! i feel at home already! :D

Good. That makes me happy.

Welcome to the Becker Forum, brother. Its a great place, and we are glad to have you hang out.

Welcome. Did it feel like you were holding a lightning bolt on Viagra?
There's only one other object that makes me feel that way.

My electric toothbrush.

Welcome. Nice to have you aboard. The 11 and 2 were my first beckers also. Solid, working mans knives. Those are the only two I've done any mod work on. Both feel nice with micarta also. Congratulations on the start of your Becker family!

I get that feeling from my electric nose hair trimmer. There's no other feeling like a loudly buzzing, stainless steel vibrating shaft running in and out of my nostrils repeatedly.
