Fob or no fob….

I almost never use them. While they can sometimes help compensate for a short handle, the main use I see is for fishing them out of something. For instance, it can be handy when fishing a knife out of a sheath or a narrow slot in a pack or pocket organizer that covers most or all of the handle.

That's not to say I don't appreciate a good decorative fob. I just don't end up using them for carry.
 
All my CRKs came with a fob. They don't bother me. When I tear them down for the first time for cleaning & re-lube, I usually remove the fobs. Then they bother me even less.
 
No fob, They just get in the way ime.

I may shed them all of them except the little Boker Plus USB and store them for posterity. Only thing is most are tied on…..

No fob. I personally don’t get the point of a “fob”, perhaps one of you would care to enlighten me. I use a lanyard (not fob) for a fixed blade but that’s it.
 
Arts and crafts with paracord and beads isn't for everyone or every knife, but it looks good when it's done right on the right knife. For a lot of my knives I prefer a lanyard or nothing at all. It's going to vary from knife to knife.
 
I made tight waterformed leather sheaths for all my SAKs that fully cover and protect them, so they have simple lanyards to pull the out. I usually carry folders at the bottom of a pocket or IWB.
 
Hard pass for me. They look well made and Im a firm believer in ” you do you” so have fun and carry on!
 
Ah so it is basically a Sailor’s Knife Lanyard knot. While I rarely use fobs other than on say a Swiss Army knife to make finding it in my pocket easier, I have put lanyards on some of my knives at different times and for different activities. I’ve tied that knot often.
 
Depends on the knife. I used to put them on everything, but some really feel better without them. I was surprised that I liked the Hinderer 3.5 better without one. I reckon I like that changing the fob/lanyard can make a knife feel and look completely different...
