And yes, prices vary depending on area, schools, etc...
For example: My little 1100 sqft 3/1 home on 8000sqft of land in Hialeah, a small municipality of Miami, is valued at between 270-330k right now. I just check for a re-fi.
My boy lives 7 miles away in a 2-story on the water (dock behind his house, etc). His house is probably 1850sqft of living space on the same sized-lot with a 2-car garage and his is probably closer to 1.1 million.
Down south of me about 13 miles, you can get a 1750sqft home with a pool on a 15k sqft lot on a lake for about 400k. But about 5 miles south of that, the same house would probably be more like 250k.
My cousin was checking today for a home. 4/2 with a pool on a nice lot for 250k.
It all depends on the area, the building materials used, school system, and local community (businesses, etc...)
Now...if you have a good job lined up and you like It here, grab the cojones and get a move-on. : D
