Foil Tape? Useful or waste o' $$$

Thought about using foil tape on some of my PSKs.

Is it waste of time opposed to a sheet of foil and using the shiney side??

The tape would probably make it easier. My problem would be that I don't have enough kits to make that purchase worth while at all. Finances are tight here, so I bummed an old mylar birthday balloon from our daughter and am going to cut it up and use it to line the inside of the lid on my tin kits. I'm thinking that it should work great.
